Nidoran♂

Nidoran♂ is a small rodent-like Pokemon. This Pokemon is classified as a Poison-type Pokemon. Nidoran♂ is a male-only species. The female of the species is named Nidoran♀. The males are purple in color, while the females are bluer in color. This article is about the male Pokemon. They are usually around 1.5ft tall and weigh around 20lbs. Besides their purple-colored fur. These Pokemon have big pointed ears, which are teal in color on the inside. They have little red eyes and oversized front teeth. The back of this Pokemon has three rows of spikes on it. When it feels threatened, it is able to release poison from these spikes. They also have a spike located on its head. The bigger the spike, the more poisonous this Pokemon is.

Both the males and the females are usually found living in large open spaces, such as savannahs and plains. Nidoran uses his very large ears to detect sound from its enemies. His ears have special muscles in them that allow him to move his ears in multiple directions. When trying to detect noises from very far distances, this Pokemon will flap his big ears like a pair of wings. When he encounters one of his enemies, he will extend his spikes and charge, hoping to inject his foe with poison that is released from his spikes.

Nidorans♂ Abilities

One of the abilities that Nidoran uses in battle is an ability called Poison Point. When Nidoran uses Poison Point in battle, anytime that one of his opponent's moves makes contact, there is a 30% chance that Pokemon will become Poisoned. Another ability he uses in battle is an ability called Rivalry. When Nidoran uses Rivalry, his attack power will increase by 25% when his opponent is a male Pokemon and his attack power will be decreased by 25% when his opponent is a female. Nidorans also use an ability called Hustle. When they use Hustle in battle, Nidoran’s attack will be increased by 50%, but his accuracy will be decreased by 20%.

Major Appearances

A Male and a Female couple made their first appearance together in an episode called Wherefore Art Thou, Pokemon? The episode was first released in Japan on June 10, 1999, and in the United States on April 22, 2000. The two Pokemon were madly in love with each other. Even tho the Pokemon’s trainers hated each other. The Love birds had a battle against Team Rocket. After the battle, Emiley’s Nidoran♀ kissed Ralph’s Nidoran♂. This caused the male Pokemon to evolve into a Nidorino.

There were multiple Nidoran in the episode Leading a Stray. The episode was first released in Japan on January 8, 2009, and in the United States on June 6, 2009. In the episode, the many Nidoran were among the group of Pokemon that were helping a Luxio that was trying to rescue a Wailmer that was trapped in the sewers.

There were multiple Nidoran that appeared in the episode Showdown at the Poke Corral. The episode was first released in Japan on October 8, 1998, and in the United States on September 30, 1999. In the episode, the Nidoran, along with many other Pokemon were living at Professor Oak’s Laboratory. These Nidoran were very special. They were colored the same way that Shiny Nidorans are. But these Pokemon predated the introduction of the Shiny Pokemon.

Nidoran♂ Pokemon Cards

Nidoran has been featured on 13 games since the playing cards release. In the Base Set expansion, Nidoran is classified as a grass-type Pokemon. Nidoran has 40 HP and the ability Horn Hazard. When you use the ability Horn Hazard in battle, you get to flip a coin. If the coin lands on heads, you deal out 30 damage to your opponent. If the coin lands on tails, the attack will do nothing.

In the Extended Sheet 1 expansion, Nidoran is a grass-type Pokemon who has 50 HP and the abilities Focus Energy and Horn Rush. When you use the ability Focus Energy in battle causes Nidoran’s ability Horn Rush to have double the attack. When you use the ability Horn Rush in battle, you have to flip a coin. If the coin lands on heads you deal out 40 damage. If the coin lands on tails, the attack won't do anything.

In the Aquapolis expansion, Nioran has 50 HP and the abilities Poison Horn and Scratch. When you use the ability Poison Horn in battle, you get to flip a coin. If the coin lands on heads, your opponent is now Poisoned. If the coin lands on tails, the attack does nothing. When you use the ability Scratch in battle, you deal out 20 damage to your opponent.

In the EX FireRed & LeafGreen expansion, Nidoran has 50 HP and the abilities Call For Family and Double Stab. When you use the ability Call For Family in battle, you get to search your deck for a Nidoran♂ or a Nidoran♀. You can then place that Pokemon on your bench. You have to shuffle the deck at the end of your turn. When you use the ability Double Stab in battle, you get to flip two coins. The attack does 10 damage times the number of times the coin lands on heads.

In the EX Dragon Frontiers expansion, Nidoran has 40 HP, and the abilities Peck and Poison Horn. The card features both a male and a female Nidoran on it. When you use the ability Peck in battle, you deal out 10 damage to your opponents Pokemon. When you use the ability Poison Horn in battle, you get to flip a coin. If the coin lands on heads, your opponents Pokemon becomes Poisoned.

Nidoran♂ is a pretty small Pokemon. But they make up for their small stature, in how easily they can poison their opponents. The cards have this Pokemon with pretty small amounts of HP, but if you take the time to level this Pokemon up and help it to evolve, you can have yourself a pretty tough Pokemon. Just be careful of its poisonous spikes.
